How this check works
- What does the check measure?
- Listening only. You hear a Korean sentence and choose what it means, or the picture that matches. It does not test speaking, pronunciation, or reading Hangul, and it does not give a CEFR or TOPIK grade.
- Do I need an account?
- No. There is no sign-up, and you start without typing anything. The check runs in your browser. A short feedback form comes before your result, and we can email the result to you.
- How long does it take?
- It is short and adapts as you go. The questions get harder or easier based on your answers, and the check stops as soon as it has enough to suggest a starting point.
- What do I get at the end?
- A level, shown as a color (White, Yellow, Orange, Green, Blue and up), and a recommended place to start in Pronounce Korean. You can begin there in the app.
- Can I take it as a complete beginner?
- Yes. The first questions are at the very start of the course, and the answers are pictures or English meanings, so you do not need to read Hangul.
